Working during the Covid-19 pandemic

Vernon Systems staff are currently working from home during the Covid-19 pandemic. We’re still here to help you and we can give you tips on working from home.

Getting in touch

We have access to all of our normal systems, so you can still raise support requests as usual. Because we’re not in our physical office, it will be harder to reach us by telephone. The phone line has been diverted to Paul Rowe’s mobile, but you should use email as the primary method of getting touch. Our individual staff members can then set up a call or online meeting if that’s necessary as part of working through your question.

Tips on working from home

Vernon CMS is a Windows desktop application that usually runs on a local network. You can access Vernon CMS remotely using Windows Remote Desktop or Citrix Workspace. The same approach can be used for providing access on Macs and iPads. We’ve put together a summary of the options, so let us know if you need some advice.

If you’re still creating new video content for your organisation from home, this tutorial from the Digital Culture Network (UK) provides excellent tips for everything from lighting and sound, to editing videos using a free phone app: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMBnMxVPAY8

Keep safe everyone during these difficult times.
