Touch-screen kiosk at MTG Hawkes Bay

MTG Hawkes Bay has recently upgraded to version 6 of Vernon Browser.

This includes the Bird’s Eye View, where all the collection images can be viewed on a single page as a large mosaic.

This feature is ideal as the home page for a touch-screen kiosk. The work that has been done to share their collection online can now be re-used for visitors to the physical venue. A large touch-screen table has been installed in the gallery, with the Bird’s Eye View as the home page.

We have put in a lot of work optimising the Bird’s Eye View, generating special thumbnail images for this page and caching the final view using Amazon’s Content Delivery Network.

Vernon Browser includes the option to set a particular device into ‘kiosk mode’. Vernon Browser then changes some parts of the site, such as hiding the social sharing buttons which aren’t applicable on a shared public screen.

This allows MTG Hawkes Bay to publish their collection to a single site and use it to serve two different audiences.
