Collection data requires maintenance
As you assess the current state of your data it is common to identify data issues. While you can correct these data inconsistencies yourself, we offer services to make your life easier.
Vernon Systems provides data audits and consultation to help you get the most out of your system.
Typical areas of review during a data audit
A data audit focuses on the main data files and related authority term lists, with the aim of identifying data issues such as duplicate records, field usage and data inconsistencies. We can carry out a range of tests including:
- checks for historic duplicate accession numbers
- checks on links between records
- reviews on the usage of fields to help standardise your data
- reviews of security groups and privileges
- reviews of system configuration
Data audit reports
All findings will be outlined for you in a report, along with suggestions for data cleanup and maximising use of the system. Data audits can take between a few hours or several days depending on the scope of the review and the volume of data in your system.
If required, we can carry out cleanup tasks for you, including merging authority terms, bulk creation of authority terms and transferring data between fields. Quotes for suggested work will be included in the audit report.
