Automatic updates to other systems
If you have an online collection, kiosk or mobile app that you wish to keep continually updated then Web Messenger is the module required. You can nominate which files, records and fields should be published. Web Messenger keeps a list of changes to be processed and automatically packages and sends these to the destination system.
Web Messenger allows you to send updates to other systems, in real time, as the information is updated in Vernon CMS. Web Messenger sends information, in the form of packaged messages, from Vernon CMS to an application that uses these messages to update its content.
Art Gallery of New South Wales is focused on showing their complete collection online, with varying levels of metadata, all of which comes directly from Vernon CMS. The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia is focused on giving website visitors a rich experience of selected works. The data is derived from Vernon CMS, but the Interaction Consortium has built additional tools like mobile and education to supplement the data. Tackling systems integrations can be a risky job, but our solution – to code a flexible framework to connect the best-of-breed technologies – ensuring that each institution got exactly what it needed affordably and quickly. The fact that we had plenty of hands-on support from the tech leads at Vernon Systems helped the process run smoothly and ensured that the institutions’ websites integrated with their collections databases seamlessly.Pili Mitchell, Interaction Consortium, June 27 2014. Web Messenger Module can be purchased as an add-on to the Cataloguing module. It is automatically included with both Vernon Browser module and the External Tracking System at no additional cost.
Popular applications to send data to include:
Digital Asset Management
Web Messenger Module can be used to automatically send data from Vernon CMS to your DAM. For example, the Object, Person and Condition Report files could be tracked so that core details for these types of records are available in the DAM instead of manually entering this important information.
Location Tracking
Web Messenger module can integrate with third-party software, such as the SmartTrack RFID system. Some collections involve frequent location changes or location tracking of objects of high value. Radio Frequency ID Tags are one method for streamlining these updates.
Web Content Management System
Web Messenger module can be configured to automatically send updates to a Content Management System, ensuring the published collection information is always current. Many websites employ a Content Management System to manage multiple publication channels.
Mobile Application
Web Messenger Module can integrate with third-party software for use within a mobile app. It is essential for the user experience to supply dynamic and current information, often coming from a number of sources.
