Our annual Australasian user group meetings were a great success in September. Queensland Museum hosted the Australian meeting, while the New Zealand meeting was held in an Auckland conference centre.
23 people from around Australia attended the Brisbane User Group meeting on September 10th/11th. Kate showed the new features in Vernon CMS 8.0. Paul gave presentations on digital asset management (DAM) features in Vernon CMS, how Vernon CMS can integrate with 3rd party DAMs, and online collection projects we have recently worked on. Paul Avern and Cecelia Ryan were fabulous hosts and the attendees were able to view the new Deep Oceans exhibition thanks to the generosity of Queensland Museum.
The Auckland meeting was the largest so far with over 40 people attending. Paul and Matt gave the presentations, while Georgie and Paul ran the training day. We had an excess of scones and muffins which is never a bad thing. The training day included many interesting questions from clients, such as how to bulk import website comments back into Vernon CMS.
The attendees put forward many good ideas for candidate enhancements in version 9.0. These ideas are being collated with suggestions from the other user group meetings. These will be posted on the Vernon user forum for clients to comment on further. The final list of enhancements for version 9.0 will be set at the end of this year.
