How to record Iwi Affiliation
The following question was posted on the Vernon Support Portal by Madeleine Jones. The answers were interesting, not only in the case of iwi affiliations but recording ethnicity in general.
Kia ora tātou
I am wondering which field (if any) people are using to record iwi affiliation, both for person and object records.
Does anyone know if there is such a thing as an iwi list/thesaurus/hierarchy?

Simple User Symbolics
Simple User Symbolics let you report on fields from other datafiles.
For example, you may want to include an artist’s website in an object label. This information is held in the Web Address field in the Person file and is not available when reporting on Object records.
Simple User Symbolics can take the data from each field and make it available for reporting purposes. Just fill in the details of the file where the data just want to display is stored, the field you would like to display, and the field in the current file that links the two together.

From the Registrar Trek blog: “Life or death. The importance of good documentation”
When can good documentation save lives? The topic of hazardous materials in collections pops up every once in a while but as human beings we tend to forget about it because we consider that – of course – we know these hazards are there, but, then again, we are rather sure we know our own collection well and that if we act according to our safety precautions we are safe.
