How much will it cost?
Choosing a Collection Management System (CMS) can be a large project. It is important to get an accurate quote for business planning, funding applications and budgets. The total cost to implement Vernon CMS is dependent on:
- the legacy data to be imported
- your training requirements
- your collection management needs

Consultation and data analysis
Our team is happy to take you through the options to prepare an accurate quote. There is usually no cost to obtaining a quote, but we reserve the right to charge for time in special cases such as the analysis of complex databases. We will always clearly state any charges and gain a written confirmation before starting on any chargeable work.
Questions and answers
We have been working closely with institutions to install and maintain collection management software since 1985. Along the way, we have worked through many issues and we would be happy to share the lessons we have learned.
Screenshots can only show so much, so we offer online software demonstrations so that you can see the system in action.
Data analysis and migration plan
Almost every new site starts with data from a previous system. We analyse your data, map each field to our data structure, and outline possible problems and areas for data clean up. The outcome is a projected timeline and cost for data migration.
Common examples of customisation include data entry screens for specific collections, such as botanical specimens or motor vehicles, and calculated fields to alter the presentation of data for reports. No two collections are the same, which is why we would like to take the time to get to know what you want to achieve.
Once we have a handle on where you are and where you want to be we can create a detailed quote.
Once the quote has been accepted we move into a project management phase. To make sure that expectations are clear we will agree on a timeline.
At the agreed time, we ask you to freeze data entry in your current system and send your collection data to us for migration to Vernon CMS.
Onsite installation and training
Once the data has been migrated and any customisation completed, Vernon CMS software is ready for installation. One of our trainers will be onsite for a two-day basic training course.
