Case Study: “It’s all about the people”

The aim of this process is to make museum visits a more personal experience for people with Cambridge connections. Books, newspapers, sports photos, event programmes and artefacts can be connected to multiple identities. But unless family members or their descendants are aware of these connections, the relevance is lost.
Vernon has been invaluable to us in this process by allowing us to create a “Person” file for identities, which can then be connected to the accession files of relevant objects in our collection.

Updated escrow arrangements
The Escrow Agreement is a Trust Deed that Vernon Systems has executed to safeguard clients in the unlikely event that Vernon Systems should fail financially (e.g. go into liquidation) or professionally (e.g. fails to support and maintain the software).
The lawyer and escrow agent that Vernon Systems has used over the last 20 years have retired. We have signed a new escrow agreement with a professional software escrow trustee: Software Escrow Guardians of Auckland, New Zealand.
The fundamentals of the escrow agreement remain unchanged:
- Each quarter end (March, June, September, December) Vernon Systems must provide the trustee with media containing the source code and documentation. This is to be stored at a professional data archive
- Clients with a current Support Agreement are beneficiaries under the escrow agreement
- There is no additional charge to clients for this service (unless you decide to verify or uplift a copy of the source code when the reasonable costs of doing so are covered by the client)
We have updated our Support and Upgrade Agreement to include the details of the new escrow agent. Let us know if you would like a copy of the updated agreement.
